Pathways Aboriginal Centre

Through a variety of funding and partnerships the centre provides Aboriginal children, youth and families with a place to gather. We offer a variety of cultural activities, recreation, community events, social opportunities, resources, information, community education and one to one supports. The centre focuses in on a holistic view of the person, and our community in all that we do. Through our work we involve our community to help enable children and youth to build on their identity and their cultural self-awareness. We encourage them to be involved in the lives of others and to accept what our community can offer. We believe that we have more in common then we have differences and through sharing and cultural exploration we can truly find our common voice and understanding. Some of the services have age requirements, while others are open to all ages and others to everyone in the community.

Currently the centre has a Child, Youth and Family worker in partnership with the Richmond School District and Vancouver Coastal Health, an Aboriginal Youth Worker with the support of Urban Multipurpose Aboriginal Youth Centre fund through Canadian Heritage and a Community Development Worker through the Aboriginal Health Initiatives Program and Richmond Health Services.

Some of our past programming has included the following:

  • Traditional dancing/drumming classes
  • Traditional cooking lessons
  • Sweat Lodge ceremonies
  • Aboriginal games evening
