Pathway’s Aboriginal Centre is pleased to announce the Richmond Aboriginal Leadership and Life-skills for Youth Project (RALLY Project). The RALLY Project is geared towards Urban Aboriginal Youth ages 14 – 24 years of age looking to explore their culture as well as participate in recreational activities, outings, leadership and life skills workshops, and career exploration. RALLY will be a 6 month long program starting October 19, 2009 and ending March 31st, 2010. We have space for 20 youth!
Youth participants of the RALLY Project will be paid a honorarium for taking part in this 6 month project. Honorariums will recognize full participation and graduation from this life skills and leadership program. Activities and workshops will take place 2 – 3 times a week with additional dates for special events and outings on the weekends.
The RALLY Project will consist of:
- A four-part series of traditional cooking classes lead by Chef Maluh;
- Career exploration and goal setting;
- The opportunity to receive Foodsafe and First Aid certifications;
- Four wood carving session lead by Haida carver Ernest Swanson
- Six Traditional Sweat Lodge Ceremonies;
- A night of traditional Aboriginal games lead by Mike James;
- Team building Initiatives at Pinnacle Pursuits;
- Leadership workshop lead by the staff at pinnacle Pursuits;
- Potential for youth to attend a provincial Aboriginal youth conference; and
