T.I. has been one of my favourite hip-hop artists ever since he came out with I’m Serious. When KING came out, he silenced all nay- sayers and critics alike. Unfortunately his next album T.I. vs. T.I.P. bombed. I am not sure if this was because it was rushed, or simply because there was too much anticipation after KING. With his latest work, Paper Trail, T.I. picks up right where he left off in KING. Paper Trail is a smooth listen and brings it conceptually and lyrically. There is no doubt that it is one of the best releases from a hip-hop artist this year.

T.I. has returned in full force. He released a street single “No Matter What” followed by his official single “Whatever You Like” followed as well as an indie video for “What’s Up, What’s Haapnin.’” Another DJ favourite is the much hyped “Swagga Like Us” featuring Jay-Z, Kanye West and Lil’ Wayne. The fact that all these tracks are smashes is a big PLUS for Tip. In fact, even “Whatever You Like”, a sing-songy R&B track is growing on me. 
One thing that listeners may notice about this album is his lyrical growth. In “Live Your Life” which features Rihanna on the track, T.I. ups his ante lyrically with lines like:

“Your values is in disarray, prioritizing horribly Unhappy with the riches 'cause you piss poor morally Ignoring all prior advice and fore warning And we mighty full of ourselves all of a sudden, aren't we?”

Paper Trail may just be T.I.’s best album to date, better than KING, and should bring him some new fans...if you haven’t had a listen get yourself online and check out his MySpace page for a taste!
