Resume Tips

Objective: To Use or Not To Use

A job objective is a brief statement that describes the kind of job you want.  A job objective needs to be specific, clear and concise as possible to tell the employer exactly what kind of job you want.  However, the objective is not necessary if your resume reflects the skills you have relative to the type of work you are applying for or if you do not want limit yourself to a specific job. Remember most employers want a cover letter as well. This can be the place to talk about any goals you have. Whatever you do, don’t use an objective that doesn’t tie in with the job you are applying for! Saying your objective is to work in construction and applying for a retail sales job might cause a problem!
